California Love for ABC Programming

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Television can be overwhelming sometimes because there are so many channels to watch and many programs are on at the same time. Entertainment is very important because it helps us relax after a long, hard day. ABC California has so many fabulous Celebrities and their stories and lives become daily conversation pieces. Cali also has so many talented local news teams that provide in-depth analysis and groundbreaking information on cases everywhere in the area. I enjoy Pop Culture as well as the mundane and like to watch shows that exhibit factual Entertainment Industry News. ABC 24 hour news media always keeps me up-to-date on information no matter what time of day I’m watching TV. I enjoy ‘Buzz Hunters’ when I want to get the inside scoop on my favorite Hollywood socialites. This behind-the-scenes series follows the L.A. crowd and the hotbed of action that happens all the time.

They have a top secret studio in a loft with hi-tech surveillance equipment, computer hardware and digital cameras. The Buzz Hunters are obsessed just like the paparazzi are but worse! They are savvy in many ways and track down the latest news before others get the chance to broadcast it. These three mega talented investigators keep tabs with a web-cam 24/7. Their leader is named Marshall and he knows just about everything about ABC. Janet can tell you anything you would like to know about Grey’s Anatomy, what a buff! And Lance is a superb technology wizard. Sometimes I prefer to watch Entertainment Tonight with Mary Hart and Mark Steines. That show is chock-full of gossip snippets as well as fashion faux pas and trends. E.T. is a superb media infusion that follows up on stars and their life successes and failures. It is the most watched entertainment news program in the whole world and it is one of the best news-magazines in the entire world.

They have a ton of info on movie premieres, TV shows, vocalists, musicians, bands, actors and actresses. I also keep tabs by watching Access Hollywood which is hosted by Billy Bush and Nancy O’Dell. Fashion couture as well as personal hits and misses are discussed on the show. Music, movies and TV are completely covered by this program. Maria Menounos is one of their most famous correspondents that interviews many famous faces! When I’m able to, I also like to catch ‘The View’ weekdays @ 11am/10c. I like to watch these ladies ham it up with all of their guests and lol. These women chat with many phenomenal guests. Barbara Walters (20/20), Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act), Sherri Shepherd (Less Than Perfect, Beauty Shop), Joy Behar (a prior stand-up comedian) and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (a prior Survivor contestant) all contribute their uniqueness and diversity to the program in many ways. It’s always fun to watch this show and there are plenty of laughs. ABC has the best news all-around as well as many other shows. Why watch anything else?

Britney Spears Circus Concert Tour Arrives in North America

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Pop sensation Britney Spears has taken her show on the road once again, starting a concert tour of North America to promote her latest successful record album, Circus. This is Spears’ first concert tour in five years. Those who have already attended “The Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour” can attest to the classic Spears lip-syncing on stage and the fact that her on-stage dancing is not the perfectly-performed entertainment it once was.

However, Britney Spears is still selling out arenas filled with eager fans, who sing along and avidly watch the choreographed dance moves and concert costume changes. Most of these fans do not seem terribly concerned that Spears walks around the stage sometimes appearing dazed with a distant smile on her face.

To her credit, and according to published reports - her family’s intervention, Britney Spears has at least managed to get her Circus CD released and selling well, and her body in shape to withstand a grueling concert tour that arrives in 27 U.S. cities before landing in Europe in June. The Circus tour director, Jamie King, who has also worked with Madonna, has done a savvy job with the entertaining show spectacle. Spears’ main costume is that of a daring ringmaster directing a cast that includes jugglers, acrobats and martial arts dancers.

The tour is full of three-dimensional diversions that are enticing to the audience. Over the center of the set’s three-ring stage is a video screen-ringed lighting rig. The rig scales up and down during scene changes. Using creatively-designed props, the raised stage-within-a-stage with its own video screen, and the various trap doors for Spears and her dancers to disappear, the concert is a sight to see.

The various dancers come in an array of costume-changing aerialists, acrobats, clowns, and burly men. The group takes Spear from ring to ring and swoops her into the air.

Before the Circus concert tour began, rumors were flying that Britney Spears would dramatize her mental illness breakdown and divorce from Kevin Federline in an overarching story on stage. Instead, the show turns out to be what celebrity blogger Perez Hilton calls a “circus of the bizarre.”

Spears, donning corsets and black boot stilettos, is the ringmaster around which the show revolves. While the costume changes are mesmerizing, Spears’ overall dancing does not match the relative perfection of her earlier years as an entertainer. In fact, it seems as though her back-up dancers do much of the heavy-lifting and try to compensate for Spears’ lack of energy during lulls. However, Spears is on task with her memorization of the dance moves, and does a fair job singing “Everytime” while suspended above the stage on an oversized umbrella.

The show creatively reinvents many of Britney Spears’ actual song lyrics in a visually-pleasing way. “Me Against the Music” can thank Bollywood for its inspiration and during “If You Seek Amy” we see Spears tapping her dancers’ heads with a pink play hammer.

With a lack of material from her first three albums present in the show, the Circus tour communicates that Britney Spears long ago bid farewell to her virginal pop princess and Lolita temptress alter egos. Rather, she is now a single mother with two children who has taken some measure of control over her life once again, and is out there doing a job she does well.

Britney Spears Circus Concert Tour tickets are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.

Do You Have A Favorite Celebrity?

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Chances are, if you have a favorite celebrity, they probably got their start on a TV show! Actually I think almost all of the actors and actresses out there have either had their start on a TV show or they have been featured on one! For instance, take a look at Steve Carell (who is one of my favorite people). He got his start on Life As We Know It! (1991) and he played a TV star on other shows as well like “The Dana Carvey Show”, “Just Shoot Me”, and “Saturday Night Live” and now? He’s a big shot move star in movies like Dan in Real Life (2007), Get Smart (2008), Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and Evan Almighty (2007)! I love this guy, I would really watch him in almost anything - almost anything. Other box office actors and actresses that have played in TV shows include some of YOUR favorites like:

George Clooney:
“Centennial” (1978) TV mini-seriesgeorge_clooney_1
“The Facts of Life” George Burnett
Bennett Brothers (1987) (TV)
to
Ocean’s Eleven (2001)
The Good German (2006)
Michael Clayton (2007)

Jennifer Aniston:
“Molly” Courtney (2 episodes, 1990)
Camp Cucamonga (1990) (TV)
“F•r•i•e•n•d•s” Rachel Green
to
Marley & Me (2008)
Along Came Polly (2004)
He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)

Goldie Hawn:
“The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show”
“The Dean Martin Show”
“The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson”
Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In: 25th Anniversary Reunion (1993) (TV)
to
Dreaming of Tibet (2003)
Overboard (1987)
The First Wives Club (1996)
The Banger Sisters (2002)

While these are three of a ton more - these are some of the more well-known ones that’s for sure! Television has more channels than ever before, more prime-time shows than ever before, and, of course, more commercials than ever before. And yet, to the consternation of many television industry executives, the one thing it seems to have fewer of is one of the most essential commodities of the business: stars. All of these performers owe their stardom much more to their previous work than their current work. Mr. (Don) Johnson, in fact, is often cited as the kind of white-hot star of a generation ago, when he was in ”Miami Vice,” that is rarely if ever generated today. Well, either way - TV or movies, I’m just glad that we have such an amazing degree of choices amongst the “stars”. Personally, I’m glad shows like Friends and ER came along - without them, who’s to say we would ever have a Jen or a George? You never know!

Hollywood Gossips

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

When it comes to the celebrities and hot stars of Hollywood, gossips and scandals are the obvious companions that come with them.  Only one can imagine the sheer pinch of these gossips in our daily lives as at our dinner table we are indulged in the deep discussions over Hollywood happenings.

In addition, there is no end of our Hollywood frenzy about the gossips and scoops .  It is all about the hottest hunks and sexy babes even if they commit anything dim-witted or unintelligently.  In a general thought, it is being said that any kind of Celebrity gossip is a thrill in which people discover more about their darling celebs.

Interestingly, Celebrities themselves are responsible for always being in news for different reasons every time.  It might be their drunken state, on the stage scenes, filing frequent divorce petitions or almost abandoning their babies in the subways or streets.  Each event could later shine the headlines of tabloids like U.S. Weekly, Star or even People Magazine and become a scope issue meant for bedroom discussion.

We are always in the mood to open up our favorite magazine and search the stuff about celebs and their twisting tales. Most of these tales are about love affairs and eccentricities of various celebrities that generate a handsome amount of revenue for the tabloids and photographers.

Gossips are so intimating now that people have connected themselves to celebrities whenever they have an opportunity.  We go through gossip magazines at the grocery stores and favorite malls. These magazines push us to get personal information about our hot stars.  This exciting news makes us swim in the scoop without considering any news sequences, whether they are true or mere hype and fabricated gossips.

As for me, I enjoy going to the store and seeing what “Brangelina” and other Celebrities are doing — even if it is only for a minute or so.

Ghost Whisperer

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Ghost Whisperer is a well known drama-fantasy-thriller that premiered first on CBS on September 23, 2005.  The show is among several fantasy television programs about the babes with supernatural abilities. Some other shows which fall in the same category are NBC’s Medium along with canceled shows Joan of Arcadia and True Calling. Ghost Whisperer, developed by James Van Praagh and created by John Gray, airs at 8:00 PM on every Friday night.

Ghost Whisperer focuses on a young newlywed named Melinda [Jennifer Love Hewitt] who has an intimate ability to communicate with ghosts and spirits. Although she was in a great need to live a usual life without this unusual gift, her life turned in dizzy when spirits reveal some thrilling facts.

The series aims for nothing less than to pluck your heartstrings with queue of dead people line up seeking advice with a witty babe. In each episode of Ghost Whisperer, Melinda tries to deal with these ghosts who need her help in completing a task that will put those spirits to rest, and allow them to leave earth for heaven.

Ghost Whisperer accommodates two leading and stirring characters who put life in the soap.  Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Melinda who has the power to communicate with ghosts and spirits. David Conrad played the character of Melinda’s husband Jim who knows this thrilling fact and helps her as much as he can to leave her out from this mess.

In the series, Jennifer commits a fair judgment with her role with higher emotional quotient and very accurate expressions related to the sequences. Real mysticism of Jennifer’s character is exactly the sort of person that she would need to be in order to speak those heavenly people.

Bret’s parents encouraged his interest in performing arts at a young age so they gifted him an electric guitar for his 10th birthday. He had performed in school plays throughout his high school years and later joined a community theater where he had shown his talent in Thornton Wilder’s production, Our Town and Tim Blake Nelson’s creation, Eye of God.

In the show “Reaper“, he plays Sam Oliver, whose idler survival is rocked by the revelation on his 21st birthday that his parents sold his soul to the Devil before he was even born. With his memorable role in CW’s “Reaper”, Bret Harrison infused a new spirit in American youth. His brilliant and heart throbbing performance has given him new dimensions and paths in the worlds of acting, writing, producing and music.

Harrison also has done guest-starring roles in the dramas, “The O.C.” and “Law & Order: SVU”.

Additionally, while in the film “Orange County” he worked with Colin Hanks and Jack Black, and appeared opposite Laura Prepon in Lightning Bug.

In the first season of the MTV series “Undressed”, he was a regular lead where he imparted sex education in youngsters.

When his ongoing series “Grounded for Life” went off the screens in 2005, the witty actor was back to more prominent status, with the lead role in the sitcom The Loop (2006-2007). In this program Harrison starred opposite Mimi Rogers and Philip Baker Hall.

I look forward to watching Bret in his newest episodes as he continues to grow his career.

Bret Harrison was born in Portland, on April 6, 1982. At a very young age, he invented an actor inside himself and his thirst for stardom started to grow by leap and bounds.

Britney Spears

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

At the end of the 1998, Britney Spears was among the most famous and dazzling teen stars, enjoyed overwhelming success as an individual performer. As a younger artist, she has marked her presence in a number of off-Broadway productions, as well as the television programs.

She measured the #1 position on Billboard Hot 100 rankings when she was just 17 years old, with her 1999 debut album …Baby One More Time. Her beguiling tunes and caching body made Spears one of America’s prime pop stars of the time.

Born on December 2, 1981 in Kentwood, Louisiana, Britney Spears’ emerged as a teenage star and a talented child. After her stunning performance in local church choirs and dance revues around her hometown in Kentwood, she proved her charm at arts summer school in New York after auditioning for the Mickey Mouse Club at little age of 8 years.

Apart from other bestsellers, Oops! Did it Again, debuted at #1, and has broken all the sales records around the world. After a highly electrifying tour and discordant performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in year 2000, Spears won two billboard music awards along with two Grammy nominations for her chart gripping music videos.

Britney also lead her ways with a number of endorsements including her first Elizabeth Arden fragrance named Curious that earned her $100 million in 2004 and in the follow up, year 2005 witnessed the release of her fragrance range fantasy which also became a great hit among the fragrance lovers.

Apart from celebrity glitter, Britney was also stressed with numerous flip flops in her own personal life. In 2004, Britney Spears made wedding knot with Kevin Federline but the nuptial was not really long and they divorced in 2006 with two children namely Sean Preston and Jayden James.

I am looking forward to her next U.S. tour to compliment her latest CD.
