Bret’s parents encouraged his interest in performing arts at a young age so they gifted him an electric guitar for his 10th birthday. He had performed in school plays throughout his high school years and later joined a community theater where he had shown his talent in Thornton Wilder’s production, Our Town and Tim Blake Nelson’s creation, Eye of God.

In the show “Reaper“, he plays Sam Oliver, whose idler survival is rocked by the revelation on his 21st birthday that his parents sold his soul to the Devil before he was even born. With his memorable role in CW’s “Reaper”, Bret Harrison infused a new spirit in American youth. His brilliant and heart throbbing performance has given him new dimensions and paths in the worlds of acting, writing, producing and music.

Harrison also has done guest-starring roles in the dramas, “The O.C.” and “Law & Order: SVU”.

Additionally, while in the film “Orange County” he worked with Colin Hanks and Jack Black, and appeared opposite Laura Prepon in Lightning Bug.

In the first season of the MTV series “Undressed”, he was a regular lead where he imparted sex education in youngsters.

When his ongoing series “Grounded for Life” went off the screens in 2005, the witty actor was back to more prominent status, with the lead role in the sitcom The Loop (2006-2007). In this program Harrison starred opposite Mimi Rogers and Philip Baker Hall.

I look forward to watching Bret in his newest episodes as he continues to grow his career.

Bret Harrison was born in Portland, on April 6, 1982. At a very young age, he invented an actor inside himself and his thirst for stardom started to grow by leap and bounds.

If spying one by one, Desperate Housewives [Sunday 9:00 PM], a comedy-drama series, illuminates the myriad saga of desperate housewives in a house along the elongate Wisteria Lane in an unnamed, but exclusive settlement. This show has proven its popularity by grabbing multiple Emmy awards, Golden Globe award and Screen Actors Guild award in a row. Lost [Wednesday 9:30 PM], is an amazing pursue about those feeble commuters on a tropical island and their survival journey among the intense shriek of the baffling creatures pestering the island.

Golden Globe Award Winners 2009

Monday, January 12th, 2009

golden-globe

The Golden Globes  is one of the more interesting award shows. The Grammy and Oscar shows have a blend of movie and music people, while the Emmy gathers all the TV talent.  The mixture of movie and tv actors shows the real value of small and large screen in one evening.  That’s why celebrity tv shows like E! red carpet show can share a moment  like The Dark Knight’s Aaron Eckhart asking Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria if she’s been drinking. From a TV perspecitve, it was also nice to see Miley Cyrus chat with Ryan Seacrest right after that  “Jonas kid” and see them not talk to each other. Hilarious to see father, Billy Ray talk to him though. Its possible he said “stay away from my daughter.”

With the awards show over, it’s time to view the list of major TV winners…

Best Drama - Mad Men. It’s the only award they won tonight, but it’s the important one. And yes, Matthew Weiner was there to accept the award on stage. The show has been off the air and out of our minds for months now so it’s great to see the cast all together again.

Best Musical or Comedy - 30 Rock

Gabriel ByrneBest Actor Drama - Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment). Interesting choice considering the other nominees, including Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Hugh Laurie, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. And of course he was the only nominee not at the show.

Best Actress Drama - Anna Paquin (True Blood)

Best Actor Musical or Comedy - Alec Baldwin (30 Rock). Not a surprise at all, one of the best large and small screen actors.

Best Actress Musical or Comedy - Tina Fey (30 Rock). Ah, this is good. They get all three of the awards (Best Comedy, Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy). Something tells me this show is going to be around for a while after all.

Fey and Baldwin

Best Supporting Actor - Tom Wilkinson (John Adams)

Best Supporting Actress - Laura Dern (Recount)

Best Miniseries/TV Movie - John Adams. Adams couldn’t be here tonight so the award was accepted by producer Tom Hanks.

Best Actor Miniseries/TV Movie - Paul Giamatti (John Adams).

Best Actress Miniseries/TV Movie - Laura Linney (John Adams). I think a lot of people were looking for one TV show or a movie to sort of sweep the awards, but I’m not sure how many people picked John Adams to be one of the major stories of the night.

Best Presenter - Ricky Gervais. Another win.

Best Acceptance Speech(es): Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan. All the “shout outs” along with NBC’s Jeff Zucker.  Oh, don’t forget that since Barack Obama won the election, Tracy said he gets to speak for the show when they win an award instead of Tina!

Most Awkward Moment - Nancy O’Dell on the red carpet, asking Tiki Barber who he’d like to see win. When he said Heath Ledger, she said “that’s a very political answer.”

Best Facial Hair - Tony Shalhoub

The Office

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Well, this more compelling American adaptation of the series elucidates usual flip flops of individual office staff in a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In certain, with compare to the British version, Steve Carell [Michael Scott] as boss, failed to imprint the footprints as Gervais was done in its British version. Steve Carell here is a soundly con and rudely numb chief who plant his own whirl on company plans and make everyone pretend his care for subordinates.

The Office (Courtesy of NBC)

The Office (Courtesy of NBC)

In a broad opinion, The Office is basically a character-based comedy, rumbling around the people working in an office. While being star-driven comedy fuss, four major characters nailed here in exacting the crucial spotlight of the show.

David Brent [Ricky Gervais] is the general manager of the Slough offices of the Wernham Hogg paper merchants; Tim Canterbury [Martin Freeman] is a sales rep with a funny and natural humor; Gareth Keenan [Mackenzie Crook] is Tim’s oblivious associate and arch-rival with a somber and less striking persona; Dawn Tinsley [Lucy Davis] is a pretty looking front office babe who habitually has to put up with Brent’s attempts at hilarity and social interaction.

The office is equipped this time with a number of vibrant characters who blend with situations and honk more misery and fun that results bone tickling office humor and numerous laugh sequences. Like many shows, it has its own slipups however it is worth recommend for everyone who is curious in mingling with a gifted bit of humor.

Although it is completely crafted in a fictional and scripted manner, the presence of the camera is openly acknowledged by every character of the series that put every extra effort to make the series able to tickle your funny bone.

Hi, my name is…Earl

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Created by Greg Garcia and produced by 20th Century Fox Television, My Name Is Earl is a show filled with people and characters, broadcasts on the NBC television network on Thursdays 8:00 PM. It’s the latest comedy, critics have been lavishing with big applauds everywhere and absolutely a must watch to look on a character with a life of shame, despair, and aesthetic inferiority.

Courtesy of NBC

Courtesy of NBC

It’s worth mention that TV never had an adolescent and rude character pretty like Earl as played by Jason Lee in the comedy saga. Earl has taken too many wrong turns on the highway of life. However, a twist of fate turns his life into a tailspin of life-renewing events. Notwithstanding his outwardly partial intellect, my name is Earl is peculiarly valuable and the top-rated freshman comedy series, like Earl himself, has an influence and chic all its own.

Apart from Earl, its seem apparent to mention other ravishing characters that move the story line up including Catalina, the motel maid and illegal immigrant, has little to do, but does much with it and also karma, a character itself who factually moves in with Earl, and moves like the wind, blowing a winning lottery ticket in and out of his hands.

In this hilarious series, eye catching locations are another lovely thing to be quoted in façade since audience will love to see a university, a golf course, a corporate center and pretty suburban houses that play an important part in this bone tickling comedy tale.

So set off a journey to behold one of the most consistent and side-splitting shows on television that only improve on the laughs and known for special belly chuckles.

TV Commercials: How many per Episode?

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

As I watch several different episodes from multiple channels, trying to provide fun information, I can’t seem to get over the amount of commercials.  Obviously, the time of day brings larger and smaller audiences, respectively.  From a marketing perspective, I think of the people watching each show - or the demographic.  As an example, NBC’s “30 Rock“, targets the 18-49 year old group as does “The Office“, “CSI”, etc.

Knowing each demographic and when they are watching is important to advertisers.  It is also very expensive.  A specific ad placed randomly throughout the day will be less expensive than primetime tv at a specific time, such as 7:00pm for CBS’s, “60 Minutes”.  According to Wikipedia, there can be as much as 15 minutes per one-hour episode of commercials.  If each commercial is 30-seconds to 1-minute, then we are witnessing 15-30 commercials an hour!  When the SuperBowl comes around, and we hear those amazing statistics about cost per ad, such as $2 Million for each commercial in the 1st quarter, I will let you know how many are for the sporting event.

What is your opinion of having so many ads per episode?  Do you find most of them useful?  How do you view the new interactive ads asking viewers to watch an episode, find a clue, then go to their Web site and enter the answer resulting in a reward?

In my opinion, I think that is good marketing.  Reward the viewer for enjoying not only the tv show and episode, but sitting around for the ads as well.  Everyone wins in that picture!
