When it comes to the Internet you can almost always find exactly what you are looking for - and then some! Recently I was looking online for some websites for the NBC fall lineup and I found quite a few websites that really piqued my interest. These websites contain all the shows you already love plus some of the new ones that are going to air in the fall line up. These websites also include some other really cool options such as TV schedules, biographies of your favorite stars, TV previews, a look behind the scenes and so much more! If you are a TV freak like I am then you will definitely find some good use in websites such as these. Most all of these sites are built in the “blog” type of way so its pretty easy to do a search and find exactly what you are looking for. For example, I was trying to see a few shows coming in 2009 for CBS and found this post:

“With official announcement of 2008-2009 TV schedules, CBS finally revealed its list of new shows combined with some of the most applauded and accepted series on television with a number of new attractions. Here CBS disclosed the featuring of five new series including two comedies and three dramas with eighteen existing series returning to the schedule. The new series includes project Gary [Wednesday 8:30 PM] starring Jay Mohr (Ghost Whisperer) and Paula Marshall (Nip/Tuck) in a comedy about Gary Barnes, a recently single painting contractor, and his dominating ex-wife, Allison, who faces post-divorce chaos after 15 years of marriage; and Worst week [Monday 9:30 PM] about a regular guy (Kyle Bornheimer), can’t help causing fiasco whenever he and his girlfriend (Erinn Hayes) are around her parents.

CBS also returns with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, all are an American crime drama television series that traces the investigations of a team of Las Vegas forensic scientists as they expose the situation behind puzzling and bizarre deaths and other crimes. Other attractions include a delightful Comic Serial Two and a Half Men [Monday 9:00 PM]; A News Magazine with unique style of reporter-centered investigation called 60 Minutes [Sunday 7:00 PM] with two top notch reality series namely Survivor [Thursday 8:00 PM] and the five-time Emmy Award-winning The Amazing Race [Sunday 8:00 PM]. Courtesy of CBS

The CBS fall lineup 2009 also accommodates a number of Drama series including The Mentalist [Tuesday 9:00 PM], story of Patrick Jane and his detective life at California Bureau of Investigation; Eleventh Hour [Thursday 10:00 PM], the tale about Dr. Jacob Hood, a brilliant biophysicist and his attractive counterpart who try to save people from deadly scientific experiments and The Ex List [Friday 9:00 PM] where a beautiful and seductive lady sets out to find her past love interests and her affections. Beyond other stunning attractions Ghost Whisperer is an exclusive new series to its top-rated Friday, stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, returns at 8:00 PM followed by the night’s utmost rated scripted series NUMB3RS at 10:00 PM.”

So you see these websites are quite effective when it comes to finding out information about your shows you love now and ones you might be interested in “getting into” once they reach the air. A couple of other data points for different shows include that of: 30 Rock, 24, American Idol, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS and The Amazing Race! Check these sites out the next time your looking online and want to see some of the new shows coming up in the fall line up!

Its said that about 1 billion people watch TV every single day and with stats like this you know there has to be some really great sites out there. But, how do you find them? Which ones are the good ones? And most importantly what are these websites for? Well its pretty simple to realize exactly why you would use websites such as this - it golds a certain sense of entertainment value. I found a few of these different sites online and they all seem to offer different things. It really depends on you and what you want. One site in particular offered videos, video previews, TV news and even other added things like schedules for certain television shows.

These websites have all the major broadcasting channels as well such as NBC, CBS and ABC so you know they are really up to date when it comes to which shows are available now and which ones were available twenty years ago! There is nothing worse than visiting a website only to see they stopped updating it! These websites, or a lot of them anyway, are set up in blog sequencing posts. So lets take a look at a couple of these posts listed below:

- Scrubs Season 8 Premier: Scrubs Cancelled?

Maybe your a spoiler freak and you like watching all the video previews, or maybe you like watching all the famous behind the scenes type videos or who knows maybe what you really enjoy is setting your DVR or TIVO for all the shows your going to watch the whole week (this is totally what I do)! In the end it doesn’t really matter who you are or what your addicting is, as long as you enjoy TV you will definitely enjoy the information and fun these websites can bring to you!

Got DVR? Well NBC Is Top Rated According To Ratings

Friday, February 6th, 2009

NBC’s lineup in prime time is good. Their shows are watchable, enjoyable and have that touch of quirky that audiences are looking for but something keeps the NBC show schedule from dominating the ratings game. Not even Jay Leno and the perennial Tonight Show could dominate after the news spot. NBC hopes moving the extremely quirky Conan O’Brien to the Tonight Show time slot will help the Peacock TV Network beat the once quirky but now cranky David Letterman. They may be right.

The Super Bowl pushed their ratings to the top but this secular holiday only comes, like Christmas, once a year and unfortunately NBC doesn’t get to be Santa Claus every year since the Super Bowl is shared with two other networks. All in all, their lineup for each evening is good but it is “watchable good” or “DVR good”? If there was a network with the most shows on a DVR then NBC might win.

NBC brought back Knight Rider with celebrity stars so hot they melt the pixels on the HDTV. Deanna Russo makes us glad that HD has arrived but her piercing eyes can’t beat the all-time favorite, American Idol. The DVR needs to work overtime to get both shows on it.

NBC’s biggest winner is The Office and rightfully so. It is well-done and a sign that a great sitcom can make it against the toughest of odds. 30 Rock fits into the same mold of an excellent sitcom. Both have critical acclaim and both have and will endure. In order for NBC’s line-up to lead the ratings it needs to see what America wants to watch. Heroes started strong and has influenced movies, books and even comics. Plot twists and the lack of character underpinning makes it difficult to follow. It too is a top DVR choice simply because it goes head to head with the best drama on TV in Fox’s 24 and it takes several viewings to understand the latest twists.

What does NBC need to do to grab the ratings? It certainly isn’t producing better shows (so My Own Worst Enemy could have used some tweaks). It does quirky better than most with My Name Is Earl and Kath and Kim but is quirky enough to win the ratings race? Both shows are like watching Jerry Springer sneaking through a trailer park with his candid camera.

One of the NBC Schedule’s highest rated shows is The Biggest Loser. Why is it so popular? It is simple, we are an obese nation obsessed with food that wants to desperately lose weight while we eat pizza and watch people on TV struggle to lose weight. It is a vicarious weight loss that allows us to be a part of it while feeling none of the pain from it. The Biggest Loser is reality at its secondhand best. And isn’t that way TV is all about?

When are my favorite TV Shows coming?

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Entertainment Weekly has answered the question on everybody’s mind (ok - it’s on my mind).  Now that the writer’s strike is over, when will my show come back, and how many new episodes can I expect?

Of note (again, to me, maybe not you)home_alone

  • 24 - Early ‘09 - 22 episodes (just kidding, of course 24)
  • 30 Rock - April 10, 5-6
  • Bones - April 14th, 4+
  • CSI: Miami - March 24, 8
  • Desperate Housewives - Late April, 4-5
  • Heroes - Fall 2008
  • House - TBD, 4-5
  • How I met your mother - March 17, 9
  • Lost - They’ve got 10 episodes done, will take a break in mark and finish up the 16 episode season in 13 episodes
  • The Office - April 10, 5-6

What about Supernatural?  Hoping they don’t cancel it, like Prison Break.

24: The TV Series

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

In the television history, 24 could be termed as one of the most inventive, applauded and acclaimed dramas one could ever witness. In its very first session, this gripping thriller got nominations for whopping 57 Emmy awards and won the titles for Outstanding Drama Series [2006] and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for star Kiefer Sutherland in 2006.

If coming closer to the plot of 24, Jack Bauer, the lead character of the series, pilots an elite team of CIA agents who are on a fray to unfold a killing intrigue targeting David Palmer, a Presidential nominee.

Every season of this thriller blends twisting happenings and its plot whirls around terrorists, an innocent family and the ups and downs in the life of a president. Bauer has been branded in the series for his non-compromising, unpredictable deeds but certainly as a very efficient agent, being accountable for preventing numerous major terrorist attacks on the soil of United States.

Glenn Morshower, who plays Aaron Pierce, and Michael Jacey who plays Agent John are the only actors besides Sutherland to appear in all six seasons. Apart from Kiefer Sutherland, there were a number of artists who pushed the life in this thrilling series.

Those actors include Mary Lynn Rajskub who played the part of Chloe O’Brian; James Morrison, an accomplished filmmaker, playwright, poet, producer, and actor played the role of Bill Buchanan; Annie Wersching, popularly known as TV producer Amelia Joffe in the drama General Hospital, portrayed the character of Renee Walker and Colm Feore justified the role of Henry Taylor in the series.
