Box Office Stars Star On ABC TV

Friday, March 20th, 2009

ABC is a very popular TV station. It’s no wonder plenty of their programs and movies star Box Office veterans. These film mavericks also play in sitcoms, comedies, sci-fi shows and ABC original movies. ‘Just Like Heaven’ starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo is one of the newest films that ABC has personally produced that will air on Saturday, March 28th @ 8/7c. On ABC Com you can find out all about different shows and movies in detail, as well as about every actor and actress in bios. In the 2009 tv season, there are so many diverse shows to watch that are new and many series that are too interesting not to be followed up with. ABC’s schedule can be accessed as well as free episodes to determine what programming is available and to find out what shows are on and when. One of the funniest sitcoms on ABC is ‘According To Jim’ which stars Jim Belushi (Mr. Destiny, K-9, Homer and Eddie) returning with new episodes on Tuesday March 24th at 8/7c.

‘Brothers & Sisters’ (Sundays 10/9c) stars Rob Lowe (Tommy Boy, Austin Powers) and Balthazar Getty (Ladder 49, Lord of the Flies), and follows the Walker family through a chaotic portrayal of modern American life. A compelling drama series, ‘Brothers & Sisters’ is about five close-knit yet somewhat damaged adult siblings and their passionately devoted and strong mother, Nora Walker (Sally Field). ‘Samantha Who?’ (returning with fresh episodes on Thursday March 26th @ 8:30/7:30c) stars the bright and charming Christina Applegate (The Sweetest Thing, Surviving Christmas) as Samantha Newly, who awoke from an 8-day coma with retrograde amnesia who has to reboot her entire life and change herself from the egocentric, horrible person she found out that she had been prior to a hit-and-run accident into a person who truly cares about others to transform former enemies into friends. ‘Life on Mars’ (Wednesdays 10/9c) stars Harvey Keitel (The Ministers, Reservoir Dogs, Little Nicky), Michael Imperioli (The Lovely Bones, The Lovebirds), Gretchen Mol (An American Affair, 3:10 to Yuma).

As well as its main character Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’,'In Justice’, and ‘Men in Trees’) who is an NYPD Detective. Sam was hurtled backwards in time to 1973 after a freak hit-and-run car accident left him far behind in the cultural hot mess of New York City. Without his cell phone, PDA, computer or MP3 player technology to help him along from 2008, he doesn’t understand what exactly happened that made him travel in time. He teams up with the others at the 125th Precinct to powerfully eradicate crime and live out his life as best as possible while striving to remain a top detective, desperately attempting to get “home.” All of ABC’s programming is greatly entertaining and there are many more shows to choose from. Why not take some time out to read all about it?

Do You Like The Ghost Whisperer?

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I’ll openly admit it - as soon as I saw this show coming on back in 2005 on CBS I was all for it. It wasn’t even the show plot necessarily - it was all about Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt). I have loved her ever since I first saw Can’t Hardly Wait, which by the way is one of my fave movies ever (in one of those annoying people that knows every single line). Just the same, I did end up watching the first episode and like millions of other people I was absolutely hooked. I don’t know, maybe if it was any other actress I wouldn’t like it as much - but Jennifer just plays the part so darn well. So what exactly is up with this show?

Ghost Whisperer is an episodic series that follows the life of Melinda Gordon, a young woman who has the ability to see and communicate with the dead. Each episode deals with one or more ghosts seeking Melinda’s help in relaying a message or completing a task that will put the spirit to rest, and allow them to “cross over” into The Light, a metaphor presented by the show as its conception of Heaven. Crossing over is when a spirit leaves earth and goes to heaven (however this can’t be confirmed as she herself stated she doesn’t know what is on the other side). There are two places in the hereafter, when the ghosts “cross over”: The Light and the Dark Side as mentioned above. These two places are one of the main points of the show.

The Light -
When Melinda helps ghosts cross over, they see a bright light. The Light is invisible to viewers and shown only a few times such as in episodes The Vanishing, The One, Giving up the Ghost (briefly) and The Gathering. Almost all the spirits Melinda helps in the show cross over into the light.

The Dark Side -
Not all spirits cross over into the Light. Some cross over to the dark side. Spirits who are trapped in this Limbo are exposed to hate and anger. Even So, some ghosts stay on the earth, whether because of an evil force, or incomplete business. Some do not even know they are dead. These spirits can reside above the surface (such as ghosts that haunt people) or in The Underneath (where evil spirits stay).

If you like the ghost type of shows as much as I do (think Ghost Hunters) then you will love this movie. Honestly I would tell you to start watching it from the very beginning. You have to know what’s going on and who everyone is! A lot has happened in the past few seasons so you seriously need to catch up. Don’t watch the next episode or you will ruin it! I love this show. And I really think if you give it a fair chance - you will love it too! Other cast members include; Jim Clancy/Sam (David Conrad), Delia Banks (Camryn Manheim), Ned Banks (Christoph Sanders) and the newly intro’d Eli James (Jamie Kennedy)!

The Best Shows You Need To Start Watching In 2009!

Friday, March 20th, 2009

All of us love TV, but who’s to say that because you love Criminal Minds and wont watch Life On Mars - that you are missing a truly superb movie? Well, some people really are stuck on what they watch while others simply don’t know anything about other shows - so they choose not to take the dive to watch them. What if you hate it? TV is all about being in that comfort zone. You know. You come home from a hard days work and you can count on Steve Carell from The Office to make you laugh or Lawrence Fishburne from CSI to make you think. You are comfy on your couch, your in the zone, and your enjoying it. Why mess with perfection? Because! You could really be missing out on an awesome show all because of your comfort zone. There are a ton of shows out there. Think of it like a buffet. You don’t go up and get the same thing every time do ya? Well you shouldn’t! Lets check out a few other shows you could toss into your TV nights, you never know if you will like them unless you try them!

My Name Is Earl is set in the fictional Camden County. The series stars Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee, Jaime Pressly, Eddie Steeples and Nadine Velazquez. Lee stars in the title role as “Earl J. Hickey”, a petty crook with occasional run-ins with the law, whose newly won $100,000 lottery ticket is lost when he is hit by a car. Lying in a hospital bed, under the influence of morphine, he develops a belief in the concept of karma when he hears about it during an episode of Last Call with Carson Daly. He decides he wants to turn his life around and makes a list of all the bad things he’s ever done. After doing his first good deed, he finds his $100,000 lottery ticket. He sees this as a sign and, with his new lucky money, he proceeds to cross items off the list, one by one, by doing good deeds to atone for them.

Kath & Kim is a Logie Award-winning character-driven Australian television comedy series, created by Jane Turner and Gina Riley. The series revolves around the family matters and relationships of the title characters, a dysfunctional mother and daughter. Kath & Kim stars Jane Turner as Kath Day-Knight, a cheerful 50-something divorcee currently in a happy relationship with her fiance (and then husband), the prissy Kel Knight. She deals with her spoilt, ever complaining, 20-something daughter Kim Craig; Kim’s unlucky, sports obsessed second best friend Sharon Strzelecki; Kim’s estranged husband Brett Craig; and their baby daughter Epponnee Rae Craig. The series is set in the fictional suburb of Fountain Lakes, in Melbourne, Victoria, but is primarily filmed in and around areas of Patterson Lakes, Melbourne.

The Office is an Emmy-Award winning American television sitcom airing on NBC and developed by Greg Daniels. It is an American adaptation of the BBC series with the same name and depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Unlike many American sitcoms, The Office is shot in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track, and is made in the form of a documentary. Although fictional and scripted, the presence of the camera is openly acknowledged by the series’ characters.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an American crime drama television series. CSI premiered on CBS on October 6th, 2000. The ninth season began airing on October 9th, 2008 and currently airs in the United States on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. The show was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It is filmed primarily at Universal Studios in Universal City, California. CSI Las Vegas is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and CBS Productions, which became CBS Paramount Television in the fall of 2006. Formerly a co-production with the now-defunct Alliance Atlantis Communications, that company’s interest in the series is now owned by investment firm GS Capital Partners, an affiliate of Goldman Sachs.

Flashpoint is about the dramatic portrayal of an elite tactical unit, called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), within a Canadian metropolitan police force (styled on the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force, Toronto being where the series is filmed). The SRU are tasked to resolve extreme situations that regular officers cannot handle including hostage-taking, bomb threats and heavily armed criminals. Even though they’re backed with high-tech equipment with an arsenal of explosives, tasers, sub-machine guns, assault and sniper rifles, the SRU operators use intuition and judgement to resolve the situation.

The Mentalist is an American crime procedural television series which debuted on September 23, 2008 on CBS. Golden Globe Award nominee Simon Baker stars as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation. He also makes frequent use of his mentalist abilities to lead witnesses or offenders into offering the actual facts of the case, as known only to them. Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits he feigned. Jane’s role in cracking a series of tough high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents.

Do You Need A Guide For ABC Channels?

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

When you love TV, such as the millions of other people on earth - it can be overwhelming when you are trying to keep up with all of your shows. One thing I really like to do to keep up with all my ABC shows is to check out channel guides online. Some of these guides will even let you set little reminders which will email reminder emails to you about the shows you want to watch on ABC. In a lot of cases, most of us know our show hours and days like the back of our hand. But sometimes there might be a new show coming on or a new movie of some sort of and we want a little reminder to help us out! Hey, I have totally been there and done that. These ABC channel guides are 100% free and they are really really easy to use. Just go to the ABC channel website, find the channel guide and the time and voila - all your shows and moves available to you. Incredibly fast, and very convenient - especially if you are online 24/7 like me. Hey, a girls gotta work! So what if I wander on over to ABC once in awhile! Shows on ABC include:

According to Jim
AFV - America’s Funniest Home Videoswhats-on-tonight1
The Bachelor
Better Off Ted
Brothers & Sisters
Buzz Hunters
Castle
Cupid
Dancing With The Stars
Desperate Housewives
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
The Goode Family
Grey’s Anatomy
Homeland Security USA
In The Motherhood
Watch Full Episodes
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Life On Mars
and more!

Oh by the way, if you watch other channels as well, which I’m sure you do - there are other channel options on these guides as well. If you have it on your cable TV then chances are they have it on these guides. Just gotta do some searching. but its still really easy just cross-reference the channel by the time and you will find all your favorite shows - and maybe some you didn’t even know about! Also, if your lucky enough some of these channel guides online will allow you to watch sneak peaks or even full episodes. If you want to find the episodes or the videos just look on the top of the web page and there should be something like “watch videos” or “watch episodes available”. These are completely free as well. In fact, if you ever do have to pay for them - you are probably not on the official site: ABC, NBC, CBS etc. Have fun!

Wish You Could Catch An Episode You Missed?

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Well TV always has you covered! While most people enjoy doing things other than watching TV in the summer (think hiking, reading, traveling, sports), a lot of other people just want to sit down and watch repeats or watch the episodes they have missed in the past. Hey I’m not perfect. Ill admit it, on occasion I have “watched for” a repeat episode in the summer time when I know I have missed it when it was originally on! Everyone does it at least once - don’t lie! These newer shows might include American Idol, Mad Men (not repeats but actual new shows), Americas Got Talent, My Boys, The Hills, etc. The old ones include the usual - Buffy, Dawson’s, etc. A lot of these shows are repeats some are new. It really depends on what you want to watch!

Summer 2009 -
“The Listener”: Stolen straight out of “Heroes,” a 24-year-old guy will solve crimes…wait for it…not by talking to ghosts (”Medium” and “Ghost Whisperer”) or being insanely good at spotting clues (”Monk,” “Psych,” and “New Amsterdam”) or through actual investigation (”Law & Order,” “CSI,” “Life,” or “Bones”), but by reading their minds.

Reality shows:
1) “America’s Toughest Jobs,” which I’m assuming is a matter of opinion.
2) “Shark Taggers,” where marine biologists mark underwater beasts with transmitters and probably have a couple hundred close calls. Maybe they should make a guest appearance on “America’s Toughest Jobs.”
3) “Chopping Block,” a couples version of “Hell’s Kitchen,” where they’ll try to successfully open their own restaurant in Manhattan, starring chef Marco Pierre White.

Other things you might be interested in as well:

The lead character is played by Jason O’Mara who had a two-episode stint playing a tumor/bear-attack patient on “Grey’s Anatomy” recently and a few episodes as a potential love interest on “Men in Trees.” Watch trailer.
+ “Scrubs”: Poached from NBC for its final season

FOX
Was in danger of being canceled, but is Returning: Til Death (younger characters have been dropped due to a revamping of the plot), Prison Break, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
Canceled: Back to You (got the boot because the two leads were too expensive), New Amsterdam, Canterbury’s Law, K-Ville, Nashville, The Return of Jezebel James, Unhitched.
NEW shows & casting
+ “The Inn”: Jerry O’Connell stars in this series about a New York hotel. The pilot is directed by Jason Bateman.
+ “Class Dismissed” (which was once “Sit Down, Shut Up”): Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Henry Winkler will voice disgruntled, dysfunctional high school faculty members in this animated comedy. Sneak Peak.
+ “Fringe”: J.J. Abrams production. Enough said. lol It’s about a female FBI agent (Australian actress Anna Torv) and an institutionalized scientist (Joshua Jackson) who investigate paranormal activity. So it’s “X-Files” meets “Bones.” Sneak Peak.
+ “Dollhouse”: Joss Whedon, another TV great, brings us a mid-season replacement that will add to the sci fi dramas. Eliza Dushku stars as human among “a group of ‘dolls’ whose personalities are rendered and then wiped clean to accomplish different assignments and tasks.” Sneak Peak.

CBS
Was in danger of being canceled, but is Returning: How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Big Bang Theory, Rules of Engagement
Canceled: Moonlight, Shark, Welcome to the Captain, Cane, Jericho, Viva Laughlin
NEW shows & casting

+ “Project Gary”: Comedian Jay Mohr plays a pathetic single dad who has an overbearing ex-wife played by Paula Marshall (”Cupid”). Together they attempt to have an amicable divorce as well as restart the dating game, while taking each other’s feelings into consideration. But when his wife gets engaged to their therapist, he decides to go after one of his clients, a single mother played by Jaime King (”The Class” and Sin City).

Where Is My Favorite TV Show At?

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

For a lot of us - TV shows are like important appointments. We usually don’t forget them unless something more important comes along. So in the case of the missing TV show you might be wondering if it got discontinued or if you really forgot all about it! In a lot of cases shows do get canceled. And yes, it does stink. But hey what are going to do? Call the TV channel? Put out a petition? That’s a no go! In a lot of cases your favorite show really may have gotten canceled and there is not a darn thing you can do about it - except latch yourself on to a new show! One thing I would suggest you do is to check out a few blogs for TV schedules. This will allow you to see if your show really did get canceled or if it just switched nights or times. This has happened to me a lot. It happened with CSI and I was dumbfounded as to how a show that awesome could get canceled. Here it just switched its schedule. So searching for your specific schedule would be a really smart thing to do. This one is a little outdated but nonetheless you will get an idea about what these lists look like:

MONDAY
8:00 The Big Bang Theory
8:30 How I Met Your Mother
9:00 Two and a Half Men
9:30 Worst Week
10:00 CSI: Miami

TUESDAY
8:00 NCIS
9:00 The Mentalist
10:00 Without a Trace

WEDNESDAY
8:00 The New Adventures of Old Christine
8:30 Project Gary
9:00 Criminal Minds
10:00 CSI: NY

THURSDAY
8:00 Survivor
9:00 CSI
10:00 The Eleventh Hour

FRIDAY
8:00 Ghost Whisperer
9:00 The Ex List
10:00 Numb3rs

SUNDAY
7:00 60 Minutes
8:00 The Amazing Race
9:00 Cold Case
10:00 The Unit

Another thing I would suggest doing - if you cant find your TV show is to look online and do a search. Chances are if you have a rift over why your show went missing - others will be talking about it as well. In this case you will find a website or wen page that is pretty much guaranteed to have ALL the canceled shows listed on it. So it might look something like this:

Masters Of Illusion (MNT)
Ending after one season, final episode on 5/18/2009

The Middleman (FAM)
Ending after one season, final episode on 9/1/2008

Mind Of Mencia (COM)
Ending after four seasons, final episode on 7/23/2008

Everything should be in alphabetical order, this is the easiest way to find your poor show that did or didn’t get canceled. If after all that you still cant find your show, the very last thing you can do is either visit the network online and look on their speciality TV schedule or just go ahead and email them and ask what happened to your show! They should email you back in a few days, and then you will finally know what happened! Good luck. I hope your show didn’t get canceled because that puts such a damper on things, doesn’t it?!?

Spring 2009 TV Guide

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

The spring 2009 TV shows are going to be here pretty soon and some of our long awaited questions will be answered (finally). Questions about Romance, family, and talking … mustangs? Well whatever shows you like (for whatever reason) you will be able to finally catch up with what’s been going on and what is going on with all your shows. Not only will you find a lot of your shows that you already like but as usual you will also find shows that are brand spanking new. Some of these shows you will love, some you won’t. But hey what are you gonna do? The TV execs put so many TV shows on TV because one show or another has to appeal to you, right? Unless your one of those crazy folks that doesn’t own a TV or something *gasp*. Some of the newer shows include that of:

Jan. 9: Howie Do It, NBC
Contestants are pranked by Howie Mandel, who is sometimes in disguise.

Jan. 18: United States of Tara, Showtime
Toni Collette as a mother with multiple personalities. Created by Steven Spielberg.

Jan. 21: Lie to Me, Fox
Tim Roth plays a man who can tell if people are lying. Good for work, not at home.

Jan. 27: Trust Me, TNT
Tim Cavanagh and Eric McCormack play friends working at a Chicago ad agency.

Feb. 13: Dollhouse, Fox
Eliza Dushku has had her personality wiped clean; she gets a new one each week. Created by Joss Whedon, of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fame.

Feb. 15: Eastbound & Down, HBO
Danny McBride plays a former major-leaguer returning to his hometown. Will Ferrell is a producer.

March 9: Castle, ABC
Nathan Fillion gets another shot at TV stardom, playing a horror novelist who helps police.

March 19: Kings, NBC
Modern-day drama based loosely on David vs. Goliath. Ian McShane and Christopher Egan star.

March 24: Cupid, ABC.
Remake of the beloved-but-canceled series about a man who may be Cupid or may be crazy. Bobby Cannavale stars.

I absolutely love that new show “Tara” it is superbly funny! Alright so some parts are a little “odd” but that’s what makes the show! I haven’t even bothered to check out Cupid - now that looks a little odd to me! Dollhouse looks good too, but I have too many other shows I watch that day! The great thing about TV is that you can watch what you like, when you want (DVR/TIVO) and there is a ton of different shows out there to choose from. Maybe you like criminal shows, or drama or comedy or reality - whatever you like, it probably exists. And if it doesn’t exist? Give it a few months, someone will think of it eventually! Returning shows include American Idol, 24, Hell’s Kitchen, Life, The Closer, Lost, Survivor and South Park. Enjoy!

Best Crime Scene Shows On TV!

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

If you love the mystery and don’t mind the “gross out” factor of some crime scene shows, then chances are you love shows like CSI. I know I do! I have been watching CSI (Grissom) since it first came out on October 6th, 2000. Since then I have been an avid watcher of Willows, Grissom, “Nicky”, Sara, Warrick and the rest of the lot. But there is a ton of different crime scene television shows out there. Some are of the CSI franchise, while others are Bones and Criminal Minds. But really, who is the best of the best? Who gets watched the most? And more importantly who has the most die hard fans? Well, listed below we have the top five best crime scene shows available on TV (now). No, I’m not going to list ones that are 20 years old like Matlock or Murder She Wrote. This isn’t old school! Check it out:

The show Bones begins in the year 2005, and tells the story of a series of case files, solved weekly, by an unlikely alliance between Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan’s forensic anthropology team at the Jeffersonian Institution (a thinly veiled allusion to the Smithsonian Institution) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. By examining the human remains of the murder victims, Dr. Brennan and her team provide scientific expertise and an outsider’s perspective to the world of criminal investigation to the FBI. In addition to the murder cases featured in each episode, the series explores the backgrounds and relationships of the major characters including the developing friendship and possibly romantic relationship between Brennan and Booth.

NCIS is a television show that follows a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service Major Case Response Team (MCRT) special agents, headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. It is described by the actors and producers (on special features on DVD releases in the USA) as being distinguished by its comedy elements, ensemble acting and character-driven plots. The “NCIS team” is led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Gibbs’ team is composed of Special Agent and Senior Field Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Mossad Liaison Officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). The team is assisted in their investigations by Chief Medical Examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum), Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) and Assistant Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).

The series of Criminal Minds originally centered on Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), one of the BAU’s best profilers. On July 17th 2007, it was announced that Patinkin had been granted a request to be released from his role on the show. Patinkin was replaced by Joe Mantegna, who joined the cast several episodes after Patinkin left the show.[1] The show is also centered around the BAU’s Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson). Hotchner struggles to balance his family life and his job. The rest of the BAU consists of Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), Jennifer Jareau (AJ Cook), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) and David Rossi (Joe Mantegna). The team is headquartered out of Quantico, Virginia at the FBI academy. The show focuses on the BAU traveling around the United States as they catch the most dangerous criminals. Each episode, except for a few, begins and ends with a quote that is relevent to the episode. The quotes were overwhelmingly recited by Gideon until his departure; since then each member has said the quotes.
