ABC.com Offers Free Episodes of Desperate Housewives
I have been spoiled the last few weeks. Since I opened Media Metropolis in December of 2008, my interest in TV Shows has increased. Even with the shows that I wouldn’t normally watch. The real question I asked myself was how could I watch abc tv episodes and review them properly.
Then I visited the abc.com web site. To my surprise, they offered “free episodes” of all of their aired tv shows. To my surprise, there was limited commercial interruption. Although this is not as good as DVR or TiVo, in my humble opinion, it is the next best thing.
First, I went to the abc.com homepage. Second, I selected the “free episode” tab, which provided me with an exclusive abc tv show list. Third, once I reviewed which tv show I wanted to watch, I clicked on the title. In this case, ABC.com Desperate Housewives. Next, I had the option to select which season and then particular episode. Of course, I selected Season 1, Episode 1 to begin my journey. Finally, I had the excellent option to choose “standard” or “HD” streaming. Since I have higher grade equipment, I chose HD.
It was a simple as that. My very own ABC.com Desperate Housewives episode playing in my bedroom on my computer screen without any technical difficulties. This saved me time and provided flexibility for my tv schedule. Thank you ABC! Goodbye VCR…wait, I got rid of that last year!

If spying one by one, Desperate Housewives [Sunday 9:00 PM], a comedy-drama series, illuminates the myriad saga of desperate housewives in a house along the elongate Wisteria Lane in an unnamed, but exclusive settlement. This show has proven its popularity by grabbing multiple Emmy awards, Golden Globe award and Screen Actors Guild award in a row. Lost [Wednesday 9:30 PM], is an amazing pursue about those feeble commuters on a tropical island and their survival journey among the intense shriek of the baffling creatures pestering the island.Â
The fray continues with True Beauty [Saturday 10:00 PM], a new reality series where a group of competent and intelligent babes race in a famous beauty pageant to get the beauty crown. The trail is further full of twists and turns; and Scrubs [Tuesday 9:00 PM], a series, offers a lanced scrutiny of life in an urban hospital, from the observation of medical college interns.
The thriving gala seems unstoppable with Dirty Sexy Money [Wednesday 10:00 PM], Private Practice [Wednesday 9:00 PM], Life On Mars [Thursday 10:00 PM] and The Bachelor [Monday 9:00 PM] where 25 young hunks trace one woman who is in search of her dream companion.
Some other worth mention attractions on ABC prime time are Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, Eli Stone, Wipe out and Wife Swap.
Golden Globe Award Winners 2009

The Golden Globes is one of the more interesting award shows. The Grammy and Oscar shows have a blend of movie and music people, while the Emmy gathers all the TV talent.  The mixture of movie and tv actors shows the real value of small and large screen in one evening.  That’s why celebrity tv shows like E! red carpet show can share a moment like The Dark Knight’s Aaron Eckhart asking Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria if she’s been drinking. From a TV perspecitve, it was also nice to see Miley Cyrus chat with Ryan Seacrest right after that “Jonas kid” and see them not talk to each other. Hilarious to see father, Billy Ray talk to him though. Its possible he said “stay away from my daughter.”
With the awards show over, it’s time to view the list of major TV winners…
Best Drama - Mad Men. It’s the only award they won tonight, but it’s the important one. And yes, Matthew Weiner was there to accept the award on stage. The show has been off the air and out of our minds for months now so it’s great to see the cast all together again.
Best Musical or Comedy - 30 Rock
Best Actor Drama - Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment). Interesting choice considering the other nominees, including Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Hugh Laurie, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. And of course he was the only nominee not at the show.
Best Actress Drama - Anna Paquin (True Blood)
Best Actor Musical or Comedy - Alec Baldwin (30 Rock). Not a surprise at all, one of the best large and small screen actors. Â
Best Actress Musical or Comedy - Tina Fey (30 Rock). Ah, this is good. They get all three of the awards (Best Comedy, Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy). Something tells me this show is going to be around for a while after all.

Best Supporting Actor - Tom Wilkinson (John Adams)
Best Supporting Actress - Laura Dern (Recount)
Best Miniseries/TV Movie - John Adams. Adams couldn’t be here tonight so the award was accepted by producer Tom Hanks.
Best Actor Miniseries/TV Movie - Paul Giamatti (John Adams).
Best Actress Miniseries/TV Movie - Laura Linney (John Adams). I think a lot of people were looking for one TV show or a movie to sort of sweep the awards, but I’m not sure how many people picked John Adams to be one of the major stories of the night.
Best Presenter - Ricky Gervais. Another win.Â
Best Acceptance Speech(es): Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan. All the “shout outs” along with NBC’s Jeff Zucker.  Oh, don’t forget that since Barack Obama won the election, Tracy said he gets to speak for the show when they win an award instead of Tina!
Most Awkward Moment - Nancy O’Dell on the red carpet, asking Tiki Barber who he’d like to see win. When he said Heath Ledger, she said “that’s a very political answer.”
Best Facial Hair - Tony Shalhoub
Cast of Desperate Housewives
Characters in ABC’s most popular and hour-long series, Desperate Housewives get their velocity at Wisteria Lane, an elegant and uptown vicinity that was not as whispered and decent as it was made appear in the series. Characters in the series are obviously vibrant in nature and their unlike characteristics and uniqueness, budge the story line up in full motion.

If coming one by one, Desperate Housewives is adorned with life hiccups of five diverse ladies who primarily move the intrigue of the sequences. Taking from top with first, Susan Mayer [Teri Hatcher] is a divorced mother with a witty wisdom and is in search of true warmth and care. Lynette Scavo [Felicity Huffman], a businesswoman in earlier times, is bowed anxious with her four intelligent and humorous offspring followed by Bree Van de Kamp [Marcia Cross], the outwardly wonderful mother who feels abandoned because of her family fondness and bitterly struggles to save her marriage.
Subsequently we turn to Gabrielle Solis [Eva Longoria Parker], an ex-model who is so perturbed with her wedding knot that she couldn’t defy an illegitimate affair with her teen aged gardener. Next is Edie Britt [Nicollette Sheridan], who became the Susan’s worst nightmare followed by Julie Mayer [Andrea Bowen], Susan’s tender and benevolent adolescent daughter who’s gentle touch lifts her mother’s heart from ongoing angst and bias.
In male leads, worth mention is, Carlos Solis [Ricardo Antonio Chavira] who is Gabrielle’s husband and a bumpy business man who valued his wife not more than a business award and a silly companion who revolves around him. Interestingly, not least, Mike Delfino, [ James Denton] is the baffling new neighbor who hit the scene as Susan’s love interest in the series.
Desperate Housewives: My Looking Glass
Produced by ABC Studios and Cherry Productions, Desperate Housewives is an American television comedy-drama series illuminating the myriad saga of unlike housewives in a house along the stretch of Wisteria Lane in an unnamed, but expensive hamlet. Now while dealing with their own chaotic troubles and dreamy lives, every next moment invites a new mystery and more murky and perverted trials for them. Life of these women behind closed doors is started to be bared as suburban life takes many funny and dark turns.
If dipping in the plot, entire story is a nasty revelation of Lynette Scavo, a former businesswoman who made her mind up to get off the career track to look after her four children; a gorgeous woman, Lynette, who is annoyed with her three sons who act up badly for every good reason; Gabrielle Solis, a former model who married well-heeled Carlos with all the affluence but no love at all; Book illustrator Susan Mayer, divorced with a bright teenage daughter and Bree Van De Kamp, a committed housewife who is about to lose her husband for her family fondness.
Very Since its debut on ABC TV, it’s evident that the show has been taken hand to hand by the audience and joyfully by the critics. Adding more gems in the crown, the show has proven its popularity by grabbing multiple Emmy awards, Golden Globe award and Screen Actors Guild award in a row. In TV arena where reality shows and investigative flicks secure highest applaud; Desperate Housewives has busted the equations of television history and became the most accepted and worth watching show among viewers globally.
ABC Desperate Housewives: Popularity Unabated
ABC’s continues its dazzling charm by airing the fifth season of Desperate Housewives, the show that has been well received by the critics as well as the audience for half a decade. “Desperate Housewives,” ABC’s latest television comedy-drama series, has been keeping millions of viewers on the couch on Sunday, giving the network its usual boost in terms of popularity and rating.

“Desperate Housewives,” a soap opera about a group of suburban women with numerous secrets that aired in the Sunday, 9:00 - 10:00 P.M., ET slot is expected to complete its centenary episode on Sunday January 18, 2009. The series starring Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Hodge, Eva Longoria Parker as Gabrielle Solis, Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Williams, Ricardo Antonio Chavira as Carlos Solis, James Denton as Mike Delfino, Brenda Strong as Mary Alice Young, Doug Savant as Tom Scavo, Andrea Bowen as Julie Mayer, Mark Moses as Paul Young, Cody Kasch as Zach Young, Jesse Metcalfe as John Rowland and Steven Culp as Rex Van de Kamp, with a number of guest appearances has been successful to evoke the quirky spirit and playful flaunting of women’s traditional role in society.
Till now the show has already received as many as ten outstanding awards, with six Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. May be, that’s why Desperate Housewives, ABC’s hit comedy-drama, has struck a cord with viewers who see themselves in the characters, since the show revolves around domesticity and male-female relations through the ages. Despite delivering a series of reality shows and dramas round-the-clock, ABC’s decision to show “Desperate Housewives” in the prime time i.e. 9:00 P.M. on Sunday will mean a bigger ratings bounce.Â
