Summertime Means…Repeats?
Well that’s not necessarily true. While you can catch up on all the shows you missed this year, the summer isn’t just for repeats like a lot of people think. There are also a ton of NEW shows that are coming on as well. Some of these shows can be found below. Most of them are going to be on the main channels like FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS and the like. But some of them may be on other channels as well. One thing I would suggest doing is checking out some of the TV channel guides that are available right online. You can find out anything about any show that you ever wanted to! These are easy to use and you can see all the new shows that are coming around during the summer schedule.
The Listener — In this one-hour drama, Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, “The Runaway”) is a 24-year-old paramedic living with a secret: he can read people’s minds. This telepathic procedural takes viewers into the heart of a tortured hero who struggles to solve crimes with his unique gift. Week-to-week, “The Listener” balances high-stakes drama with irreverent humor and sends Toby on an intellectual and emotional adventure. Ennis Esmer (”The Path to 9/11″) also stars. “The Listener” is a production of Program Partners and Shaftesbury Films. The executive producers are Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Michael Amo, Russ Cochrane, Glen Davis and Bill Laurin.
Kings - This is an inspiring exploration of the timeless David vs. Goliath struggle. The show is set in a modern metropolis under siege where the fighting has gone on for too long and cost far too many lives. When David Shepherd (Christopher Egan, “Resident Evil: Extinction”), a brave young soldier, rescues the king’s (Golden Globe winner Ian McShane, “Deadwood”) son from enemy territory, he sets events in motion that will finally bring peace. Suddenly, David is thrust into the limelight, earning the affections of women — including the king’s daughter. When he’s promoted to captain, he becomes the reluctant poster boy for hope. But for David, the line between his allies and enemies will blur as the power players in the kingdom go to great lengths to see him fall.
Chopping Block - It’s time to sharpen your knives! It’s not just about the meal, it’s about the business of food. From the producers of “Hell’s Kitchen,” original rock-star chef Marco Pierre White comes to America to host the ultimate food fight on NBC — a new reality competition set in the high-drama, high-stakes world of New York City restaurants. The cooks are given a grilling over the course of the series. The teams, which are made up of couples, will be tested in challenges that vary from having less than a week to design and revamp a restaurant space to planning a menu and creating a signature dish. The winning couple will get a chance to have their dreams come true — opening their very own restaurant in Manhattan. The series is produced by Granada America.”
Shark Taggers - From creator/executive producer Thom Beers (”Deadliest Catch,” “Ice Road Truckers”) and executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, “Shark Taggers” is a one-hour reality series that follows daring marine biologists as they track down the ocean’s top predators and hand-tag them with cutting-edge satellite transmitters or investigate bull sharks’ sudden attacks on surfers. The series is produced by Original Productions and BermanBraun.”
Americas Toughest Jobs - From creator/executive producer Thom Beers (”Deadliest Catch,” “Ice Road Truckers”) and executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, “America’s Toughest Jobs” is a new extreme competition series that will test 12 people who venture out of their safe, comfortable careers and are injected into some of the most challenging, dangerous and demanding jobs on earth. From logging high in the Oregon Forest to oil drilling on the Texas range, or from driving icy roads to extreme fishing — each job requires guts and stamina, and they’ll have to live up to the same standards as the pros. In the end, their new boss and co-workers will determine success or failure, and those who don’t make the grade get sent home.
Don’t get me wrong. I love watching all the CSIs I missed. But if you want to watch something new and put a little spice in your life, the above-mentioned shows should do it up for you. And if not? Well, check out the schedules like I suggested. I’m sure you can find something to watch or something for you and your family! Have a go at it and see what you can find. Watching TV doesn’t have to be bland, kick it up a notch!
Where Is My Favorite TV Show At?
For a lot of us - TV shows are like important appointments. We usually don’t forget them unless something more important comes along. So in the case of the missing TV show you might be wondering if it got discontinued or if you really forgot all about it! In a lot of cases shows do get canceled. And yes, it does stink. But hey what are going to do? Call the TV channel? Put out a petition? That’s a no go! In a lot of cases your favorite show really may have gotten canceled and there is not a darn thing you can do about it - except latch yourself on to a new show! One thing I would suggest you do is to check out a few blogs for TV schedules. This will allow you to see if your show really did get canceled or if it just switched nights or times. This has happened to me a lot. It happened with CSI and I was dumbfounded as to how a show that awesome could get canceled. Here it just switched its schedule. So searching for your specific schedule would be a really smart thing to do. This one is a little outdated but nonetheless you will get an idea about what these lists look like:
MONDAY
8:00 The Big Bang Theory
8:30 How I Met Your Mother
9:00 Two and a Half Men
9:30 Worst Week
10:00 CSI: Miami
TUESDAY
8:00 NCIS
9:00 The Mentalist
10:00 Without a Trace
WEDNESDAY
8:00 The New Adventures of Old Christine
8:30 Project Gary
9:00 Criminal Minds
10:00 CSI: NY
THURSDAY
8:00 Survivor
9:00 CSI
10:00 The Eleventh Hour
FRIDAY
8:00 Ghost Whisperer
9:00 The Ex List
10:00 Numb3rs
SUNDAY
7:00 60 Minutes
8:00 The Amazing Race
9:00 Cold Case
10:00 The Unit
Another thing I would suggest doing - if you cant find your TV show is to look online and do a search. Chances are if you have a rift over why your show went missing - others will be talking about it as well. In this case you will find a website or wen page that is pretty much guaranteed to have ALL the canceled shows listed on it. So it might look something like this:
Masters Of Illusion (MNT)
Ending after one season, final episode on 5/18/2009
The Middleman (FAM)
Ending after one season, final episode on 9/1/2008
Mind Of Mencia (COM)
Ending after four seasons, final episode on 7/23/2008
Everything should be in alphabetical order, this is the easiest way to find your poor show that did or didn’t get canceled. If after all that you still cant find your show, the very last thing you can do is either visit the network online and look on their speciality TV schedule or just go ahead and email them and ask what happened to your show! They should email you back in a few days, and then you will finally know what happened! Good luck. I hope your show didn’t get canceled because that puts such a damper on things, doesn’t it?!?
Best Crime Scene Shows On TV!
If you love the mystery and don’t mind the “gross out” factor of some crime scene shows, then chances are you love shows like CSI. I know I do! I have been watching CSI (Grissom) since it first came out on October 6th, 2000. Since then I have been an avid watcher of Willows, Grissom, “Nicky”, Sara, Warrick and the rest of the lot. But there is a ton of different crime scene television shows out there. Some are of the CSI franchise, while others are Bones and Criminal Minds. But really, who is the best of the best? Who gets watched the most? And more importantly who has the most die hard fans? Well, listed below we have the top five best crime scene shows available on TV (now). No, I’m not going to list ones that are 20 years old like Matlock or Murder She Wrote. This isn’t old school! Check it out:
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an American crime drama television series. CSI premiered on CBS on October 6th, 2000. The ninth season began airing on October 9th, 2008 and currently airs in the United States on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. The show was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It is filmed primarily at Universal Studios in Universal City, California. CSI Las Vegas is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and CBS Productions, which became CBS Paramount Television in the fall of 2006. Formerly a co-production with the now-defunct Alliance Atlantis Communications, that company’s interest in the series is now owned by investment firm GS Capital Partners, an affiliate of Goldman Sachs.
Flashpoint is about the dramatic portrayal of an elite tactical unit, called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), within a Canadian metropolitan police force (styled on the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force, Toronto being where the series is filmed). The SRU are tasked to resolve extreme situations that regular officers cannot handle including hostage-taking, bomb threats and heavily armed criminals. Even though they’re backed with high-tech equipment with an arsenal of explosives, tasers, sub-machine guns, assault and sniper rifles, the SRU operators use intuition and judgement to resolve the situation.
The show Bones begins in the year 2005, and tells the story of a series of case files, solved weekly, by an unlikely alliance between Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan’s forensic anthropology team at the Jeffersonian Institution (a thinly veiled allusion to the Smithsonian Institution) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. By examining the human remains of the murder victims, Dr. Brennan and her team provide scientific expertise and an outsider’s perspective to the world of criminal investigation to the FBI. In addition to the murder cases featured in each episode, the series explores the backgrounds and relationships of the major characters including the developing friendship and possibly romantic relationship between Brennan and Booth.
NCIS is a television show that follows a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service Major Case Response Team (MCRT) special agents, headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. It is described by the actors and producers (on special features on DVD releases in the USA) as being distinguished by its comedy elements, ensemble acting and character-driven plots. The “NCIS team” is led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Gibbs’ team is composed of Special Agent and Senior Field Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Mossad Liaison Officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). The team is assisted in their investigations by Chief Medical Examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum), Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) and Assistant Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
The series of Criminal Minds originally centered on Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), one of the BAU’s best profilers. On July 17th 2007, it was announced that Patinkin had been granted a request to be released from his role on the show. Patinkin was replaced by Joe Mantegna, who joined the cast several episodes after Patinkin left the show.[1] The show is also centered around the BAU’s Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson). Hotchner struggles to balance his family life and his job. The rest of the BAU consists of Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), Jennifer Jareau (AJ Cook), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) and David Rossi (Joe Mantegna). The team is headquartered out of Quantico, Virginia at the FBI academy. The show focuses on the BAU traveling around the United States as they catch the most dangerous criminals. Each episode, except for a few, begins and ends with a quote that is relevent to the episode. The quotes were overwhelmingly recited by Gideon until his departure; since then each member has said the quotes.
