If you love TV then your going to love what you have to look forward to this summer as far as television shows, movies and mini series goes. For the last few months (if you have watched TV) I’m sure you have seen all the new commercials about all the new shows coming in the summer. Frankly I cant wait and I wish they would just come on already. Some of them look like stuff I wouldn’t be interested in (Harper’s Island) while others do (Southland). But that’s the great thing about TV. While I might not like something, you might love it and vise versa. There is a show or a movie that could reach out to anyone with any taste. Like criminal shows? How about comedy movies? Maybe your really into scientific type mini-series because you don’t have the time for a full on show schedule? Well, the TV channels available to you have all these and much more. So lets check out some of the options you have!

Along the way, our families and our viewers will also discover quirky American landmarks ranging from the World’s Largest Chair to a sneaker the size of a car. Rist’s actions are not just about helping others - he is purging his soul to help exorcise the inner demons which have been festering ever since his young son died and he lost everything he truly loved. Since the death of his son, the danger and risk to his life is the only way he can feel genuinely alive and he’ll do anything in order to achieve his goals. “Merlin” is a new 13-part drama series that updates the story of the infamous sorcerer of Arthurian legend for a new audience in the mythical city of Camelot, in a time before history began. In this fantastical realm, Merlin is a young man gifted with extraordinary magical powers who arrives in the kingdom and quickly makes enemies, including the heir to Uther’s crown, the headstrong Prince Arthur. But guided by Uther’s wise physician, Gaius, Merlin is soon using his talents not just to survive but also to unlock Camelot’s mystical secrets. Starring Colin Morgan as Merlin, Bradley James as Prince Arthur, Anthony Head as King Uther, Richard Wilson as Gaius, Katie McGrath as Morgana and Angel Coulby as Gwen, “Merlin” is an imaginative new twist on a legend that is as old as time.
“The Listener” centers on Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, “The Timekeeper”), a 25-year-old paramedic who has a big secret — he’s a telepath. Until now, Toby kept his ability hidden, exploring its possibilities only with his long time mentor and confidant, Dr. Ray Mercer (Colm Feore, “24: Redemption”). As he makes the rounds with his energetic paramedic partner — “Oz” Bey (Ennis Esmer, “Young People F*#king”), “The Listener” follows Toby as he tries to help people in crisis, and in the process, unravel the truth about his past. While his professional life is in check, Toby’s personal life could use its own rescue. And with the help of Detective Charlie Marks (Lisa Marcos, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman”) and his E.R. doctor/ex-girlfriend Olivia Fawcett (Mylne Dinh-Robic, “Da Vinci’s City Hall”), Toby realizes his gift can help others.
One of the greatest artists of all time, the legacy of Leonardo daVinci (1452-1519) includes some of the most well-known paintings ever made. But daVinci’s talent exceeded far beyond painting - he was also a successful architect and engineer, and his drawings of military weapons have been highly regarded and studied for nearly 500 years. These drawings capture exceptionally engineered weapons unlike anything that had been developed at the time they were created, yet there is no record that these designs were ever constructed … until now. Discovery Channel’s six-part world premiere original series, DOING DAVINCI, puts a team of 21st century builders, engineers and historians together to take on one of history’s greatest minds as they attempt to build daVinci’s weapons once and for all. The series premieres Mondays at 10PM ET/PT beginning April 13.
In “Meteor,” two massive rocks, tumbling debris older than the solar system itself, collide in space. The course has been altered. The target is Earth. In a remote observatory, Dr. Lehman (Emmy winner Christopher Lloyd, “Back to the Future”), discovers a meteor approximately three times the size of Mount Everest barreling its way towards Earth. His devoted young assistant Imogene O’Neill (Marla Sokoloff, “The Practice”) feverishly types in the coordinates only to find the previously identified meteor named Kassandra is headed their way. It’s only the beginning of their troubles as showers of smaller meteorites begin to lay waste to major cities around the globe. The impending disaster brings out the best and the worst sides in people as they cope by either lending a helping hand or taking advantage of the situation.
The Best Shows You Need To Start Watching In 2009!
All of us love TV, but who’s to say that because you love Criminal Minds and wont watch Life On Mars - that you are missing a truly superb movie? Well, some people really are stuck on what they watch while others simply don’t know anything about other shows - so they choose not to take the dive to watch them. What if you hate it? TV is all about being in that comfort zone. You know. You come home from a hard days work and you can count on Steve Carell from The Office to make you laugh or Lawrence Fishburne from CSI to make you think. You are comfy on your couch, your in the zone, and your enjoying it. Why mess with perfection? Because! You could really be missing out on an awesome show all because of your comfort zone. There are a ton of shows out there. Think of it like a buffet. You don’t go up and get the same thing every time do ya? Well you shouldn’t! Lets check out a few other shows you could toss into your TV nights, you never know if you will like them unless you try them!
My Name Is Earl is set in the fictional Camden County. The series stars Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee, Jaime Pressly, Eddie Steeples and Nadine Velazquez. Lee stars in the title role as “Earl J. Hickey”, a petty crook with occasional run-ins with the law, whose newly won $100,000 lottery ticket is lost when he is hit by a car. Lying in a hospital bed, under the influence of morphine, he develops a belief in the concept of karma when he hears about it during an episode of Last Call with Carson Daly. He decides he wants to turn his life around and makes a list of all the bad things he’s ever done. After doing his first good deed, he finds his $100,000 lottery ticket. He sees this as a sign and, with his new lucky money, he proceeds to cross items off the list, one by one, by doing good deeds to atone for them.
Kath & Kim is a Logie Award-winning character-driven Australian television comedy series, created by Jane Turner and Gina Riley. The series revolves around the family matters and relationships of the title characters, a dysfunctional mother and daughter. Kath & Kim stars Jane Turner as Kath Day-Knight, a cheerful 50-something divorcee currently in a happy relationship with her fiance (and then husband), the prissy Kel Knight. She deals with her spoilt, ever complaining, 20-something daughter Kim Craig; Kim’s unlucky, sports obsessed second best friend Sharon Strzelecki; Kim’s estranged husband Brett Craig; and their baby daughter Epponnee Rae Craig. The series is set in the fictional suburb of Fountain Lakes, in Melbourne, Victoria, but is primarily filmed in and around areas of Patterson Lakes, Melbourne.
The Office is an Emmy-Award winning American television sitcom airing on NBC and developed by Greg Daniels. It is an American adaptation of the BBC series with the same name and depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Unlike many American sitcoms, The Office is shot in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track, and is made in the form of a documentary. Although fictional and scripted, the presence of the camera is openly acknowledged by the series’ characters.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an American crime drama television series. CSI premiered on CBS on October 6th, 2000. The ninth season began airing on October 9th, 2008 and currently airs in the United States on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. The show was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It is filmed primarily at Universal Studios in Universal City, California. CSI Las Vegas is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and CBS Productions, which became CBS Paramount Television in the fall of 2006. Formerly a co-production with the now-defunct Alliance Atlantis Communications, that company’s interest in the series is now owned by investment firm GS Capital Partners, an affiliate of Goldman Sachs.
Flashpoint is about the dramatic portrayal of an elite tactical unit, called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), within a Canadian metropolitan police force (styled on the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force, Toronto being where the series is filmed). The SRU are tasked to resolve extreme situations that regular officers cannot handle including hostage-taking, bomb threats and heavily armed criminals. Even though they’re backed with high-tech equipment with an arsenal of explosives, tasers, sub-machine guns, assault and sniper rifles, the SRU operators use intuition and judgement to resolve the situation.
The Mentalist is an American crime procedural television series which debuted on September 23, 2008 on CBS. Golden Globe Award nominee Simon Baker stars as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation. He also makes frequent use of his mentalist abilities to lead witnesses or offenders into offering the actual facts of the case, as known only to them. Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits he feigned. Jane’s role in cracking a series of tough high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents.
Wish You Could Catch An Episode You Missed?
Well TV always has you covered! While most people enjoy doing things other than watching TV in the summer (think hiking, reading, traveling, sports), a lot of other people just want to sit down and watch repeats or watch the episodes they have missed in the past. Hey I’m not perfect. Ill admit it, on occasion I have “watched for” a repeat episode in the summer time when I know I have missed it when it was originally on! Everyone does it at least once - don’t lie! These newer shows might include American Idol, Mad Men (not repeats but actual new shows), Americas Got Talent, My Boys, The Hills, etc. The old ones include the usual - Buffy, Dawson’s, etc. A lot of these shows are repeats some are new. It really depends on what you want to watch!
Summer 2009 -
“The Listener”: Stolen straight out of “Heroes,” a 24-year-old guy will solve crimes…wait for it…not by talking to ghosts (”Medium” and “Ghost Whisperer”) or being insanely good at spotting clues (”Monk,” “Psych,” and “New Amsterdam”) or through actual investigation (”Law & Order,” “CSI,” “Life,” or “Bones”), but by reading their minds.
Reality shows:
1) “America’s Toughest Jobs,” which I’m assuming is a matter of opinion.
2) “Shark Taggers,” where marine biologists mark underwater beasts with transmitters and probably have a couple hundred close calls. Maybe they should make a guest appearance on “America’s Toughest Jobs.”
3) “Chopping Block,” a couples version of “Hell’s Kitchen,” where they’ll try to successfully open their own restaurant in Manhattan, starring chef Marco Pierre White.

Love Comedy? Then You Should Check This Out!
Comedy is one of my favorite types of TV shows. Not stuff like the Funny Bone or anything like that. But shows like 30 Rock, According To Jim and The Big Bang Theory. Not really slap stick but still gets a few giggles out of you every few minutes. This is the stuff that life is made out of. Ya know what they say - laughter is the best medicine. And who doesn’t love being able to sit down and watch a nice comedy after a long day or a bad day at work? Maybe you got stuck in traffic and your stressed out. This is the best way to feel better and let all your problems melt away. I think it’s really great how a 30 minute show can simply remind me to not take everything so darn serious. TV shows like The Family Guy are a great way to escape reality - even for 30 minutes. If you like comedies, then you should definitely, without a doubt check out the follow shows (available now):

The series debuted as a mid-season replacement on March 13th, 2006 on CBS and is currently broadcasting it’s fourth season, which debuted September 2008. King of the Hill is an American television animated series created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, for the Fox Broadcasting Company. It centers on the Hills, a small-town Methodist family proud of its Texas heritage. It attempts to retain a realistic approach, seeking humor in the otherwise conventional or sometimes even mundane. Judge and Daniels conceived the series after a successful run with Judge’s earlier Beavis and Butt-head on MTV, and the series debuted on the Fox Network on January 12th, 1997, becoming an early hit. The series’ popularity has also led to syndication by many local affiliates, the FX network, Adult Swim, as well as a number of international networks. The show has risen to become one of FOX’s longest-running series, and the second longest-running American animated series, behind The Simpsons. In 2007, it was named by Time Magazine as one of the greatest television shows of all time.
How I Met Your Mother is an American situation comedy that premiered on CBS Broadcasting on September 19th, 2005. The show was created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays. As a framing device, the main character, Ted Mosby, in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother, which explains the title and allows for a narration in the past tense. How I Met Your Mother’s other main characters are Marshall Eriksen, Robin Scherbatsky, Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin. Thomas and Bays drew from their friendship in creating the characters, with Ted based loosely on Bays, and Marshall and Lily based loosely on Thomas and his wife.

Its like this with every channel down the line. Some TV guides will even give you a synopsis of the show if you click on it. This way you can see if you have seen it or not (if it’s a repeat). I use the guides a lot because I always forget when NCIS is on even though its one of my favorite shows. I know, I’m bad. But that’s what these guides are for - forgetful people such as myself. Or people like you that are TV addicts and can’t keep up with every single show that they watch. Oh you know who you are, don’t be shy! TV is nothing to be shy about. How could you not like TV? There are all kinds of shows out there you. You can either escape from reality or compare your life, or you can feel like a show is a piece of your life! There is no shame in that. Watch what you want!
Ghost Whisperer
Ghost Whisperer is a well known drama-fantasy-thriller that premiered first on CBS on September 23, 2005. The show is among several fantasy television programs about the babes with supernatural abilities. Some other shows which fall in the same category are NBC’s Medium along with canceled shows Joan of Arcadia and True Calling. Ghost Whisperer, developed by James Van Praagh and created by John Gray, airs at 8:00 PM on every Friday night. Â

Courtesy of CBS
Ghost Whisperer focuses on a young newlywed named Melinda [Jennifer Love Hewitt] who has an intimate ability to communicate with ghosts and spirits. Although she was in a great need to live a usual life without this unusual gift, her life turned in dizzy when spirits reveal some thrilling facts.
The series aims for nothing less than to pluck your heartstrings with queue of dead people line up seeking advice with a witty babe. In each episode of Ghost Whisperer, Melinda tries to deal with these ghosts who need her help in completing a task that will put those spirits to rest, and allow them to leave earth for heaven.
Ghost Whisperer accommodates two leading and stirring characters who put life in the soap. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Melinda who has the power to communicate with ghosts and spirits. David Conrad played the character of Melinda’s husband Jim who knows this thrilling fact and helps her as much as he can to leave her out from this mess.
In the series, Jennifer commits a fair judgment with her role with higher emotional quotient and very accurate expressions related to the sequences. Real mysticism of Jennifer’s character is exactly the sort of person that she would need to be in order to speak those heavenly people.

Golden Globe Award Winners 2009

The Golden Globes is one of the more interesting award shows. The Grammy and Oscar shows have a blend of movie and music people, while the Emmy gathers all the TV talent.  The mixture of movie and tv actors shows the real value of small and large screen in one evening.  That’s why celebrity tv shows like E! red carpet show can share a moment like The Dark Knight’s Aaron Eckhart asking Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria if she’s been drinking. From a TV perspecitve, it was also nice to see Miley Cyrus chat with Ryan Seacrest right after that “Jonas kid” and see them not talk to each other. Hilarious to see father, Billy Ray talk to him though. Its possible he said “stay away from my daughter.”
With the awards show over, it’s time to view the list of major TV winners…
Best Drama - Mad Men. It’s the only award they won tonight, but it’s the important one. And yes, Matthew Weiner was there to accept the award on stage. The show has been off the air and out of our minds for months now so it’s great to see the cast all together again.
Best Musical or Comedy - 30 Rock
Best Actor Drama - Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment). Interesting choice considering the other nominees, including Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Hugh Laurie, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. And of course he was the only nominee not at the show.
Best Actress Drama - Anna Paquin (True Blood)
Best Actor Musical or Comedy - Alec Baldwin (30 Rock). Not a surprise at all, one of the best large and small screen actors. Â
Best Actress Musical or Comedy - Tina Fey (30 Rock). Ah, this is good. They get all three of the awards (Best Comedy, Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy). Something tells me this show is going to be around for a while after all.

Best Supporting Actor - Tom Wilkinson (John Adams)
Best Supporting Actress - Laura Dern (Recount)
Best Miniseries/TV Movie - John Adams. Adams couldn’t be here tonight so the award was accepted by producer Tom Hanks.
Best Actor Miniseries/TV Movie - Paul Giamatti (John Adams).
Best Actress Miniseries/TV Movie - Laura Linney (John Adams). I think a lot of people were looking for one TV show or a movie to sort of sweep the awards, but I’m not sure how many people picked John Adams to be one of the major stories of the night.
Best Presenter - Ricky Gervais. Another win.Â
Best Acceptance Speech(es): Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan. All the “shout outs” along with NBC’s Jeff Zucker.  Oh, don’t forget that since Barack Obama won the election, Tracy said he gets to speak for the show when they win an award instead of Tina!
Most Awkward Moment - Nancy O’Dell on the red carpet, asking Tiki Barber who he’d like to see win. When he said Heath Ledger, she said “that’s a very political answer.”
Best Facial Hair - Tony Shalhoub
The Office
Well, this more compelling American adaptation of the series elucidates usual flip flops of individual office staff in a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In certain, with compare to the British version, Steve Carell [Michael Scott] as boss, failed to imprint the footprints as Gervais was done in its British version. Steve Carell here is a soundly con and rudely numb chief who plant his own whirl on company plans and make everyone pretend his care for subordinates.Â

The Office (Courtesy of NBC)
David Brent [Ricky Gervais] is the general manager of the Slough offices of the Wernham Hogg paper merchants; Tim Canterbury [Martin Freeman] is a sales rep with a funny and natural humor; Gareth Keenan [Mackenzie Crook] is Tim’s oblivious associate and arch-rival with a somber and less striking persona; Dawn Tinsley [Lucy Davis] is a pretty looking front office babe who habitually has to put up with Brent’s attempts at hilarity and social interaction.
The office is equipped this time with a number of vibrant characters who blend with situations and honk more misery and fun that results bone tickling office humor and numerous laugh sequences. Like many shows, it has its own slipups however it is worth recommend for everyone who is curious in mingling with a gifted bit of humor.
Although it is completely crafted in a fictional and scripted manner, the presence of the camera is openly acknowledged by every character of the series that put every extra effort to make the series able to tickle your funny bone.
